Best-Mix #5????
Re: Best-Mix #5????
Hey guys, I'm still poking around here.
Life has taken me other directions than Bemani, and I probably would have closed up show here already if not for the fact that I'd like a proper ending to this book, and I have so many good memories around hosting this tournament series.
From the state of the rest of the Bemani communities still around, it also seems like the majority of us have moved on or become much busier with life than we used to be.
I would like to do 1 last competition; but I think it should be simpler than previous ones. Simple ruleset, simple scoring/judging without complicated Public reviews or multiple judges.
Thoughts for those still poking around?

Well, don't waste the money you spent on (you know what) which you were gonna use for the next tournament
You could just make the rules like this: 2-3 charts, mandatory heavy or challenge, bn&bg, the usual separation of ITG and DDR, division into brackets, done. Public vote in each bracket - rank top 3 files: 1st place gets 3 pts, 2nd gets 2 pts, 3rd gets 1 pt. Then move on to the next round, and one more if necessary. (Of course, this part could use some tinkering from those who have experience with running contests.)
But yeah, no need to linger too much over details. In a simple contest, fairness is bound to get lost in the simplicity to a certain extent. Thoughts?

This was pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking as well. A simple ruleset and format like that would make this a nice, low-key and fun tournament.
I'm going to be working on this the next few weeks, so if you don't hear back from me by the end of this month, someone message me on AIM.

Schedule and rules coming very soon!
You can start working on your files; rules won't be very different from previous ones.
You'll have about 3 weeks until the tournament starts; ETA Deadline July 7th to get this moving and mostly finished before August.

Still here, and very close to kicking this off! I want to make this the best BEST-mix, and so I'm taking time to make sure *everything* is figured out and optimal for making this as fun as possible for everyone. I plan to have the full rules/schedule posted in 1 week (This may be 2. I'm recruiting some help to plan this out).
This is absolutely going to happen, 100%, so if you have any doubts or fear of it being delayed into oblivion (or that it'll turn out like Duke Nukem Forever), you can put those doubts to rest.
The rules are 90+% similar to BM4's so if you're worried about anything, start there and get to work on your files.
