Community Pack - Discuss

The simfile competition with the highest completion rate I've ever seen! :D

We're going to try to get video reviews taken today; hopefully they'll be up tomorrow night.

NIQ, I'm not going to review your file on video. I'm not putting myself in a position to get blindsided again. If you actually want my opinion, I'll post a text review, although I'm honestly even a bit wary of that now. Either way, I don't want to restart any drama on these or any other forums.

A crossbeats REV. stream? On Twitch? It's more likely than you think!

Quick notes on a few songs:

In The Ruins: I tried it on keyboard and it looked like it'd be really fun on pad. The freezes were used much more tastefully this time, in my opinion.

OHAYOU: Pretty fun with a C-mod. When I played it on pad I was too busy with the gimmick to really get into it, but that would go away over time.

I was surprisingly tired today, so I hope I didn't take it out on the 9s too bad. I nitpicked some of them because that was what came to mind at the time, but I don't think I disliked a single song in the community pack.

Both 12+ footers were fun on KB, although I liked Hostile better.

Sorry if you missed the chat.

I'd just like to say everyone pretty much enjoyed every file in this pack! I for one did and thought this was the most enjoyable pack I have played in a while, paired with a very entertaining chat review.

Sorry for the .log file. I think it was a mistake to save it in that format, but I wanted to edit some stuff out (and I never did lol). The [best mix] tag before everyone's name is there because we had to make a group rather than a room since AIM Express is mean. Oh yeah, and if it seemed like we made fun of you for any reason, we were just kidding, not that you'd ever get that impression... okay I'm done.

It definitely was a sort of spur of the moment thing, so I apologize to those who I didn't give enough time to prepare for it. I didn't think we were going to finish all the files in one review, which is why I wanted to start a bit early in the week, but they were just all so fun to play that we finished the whole pack! Great job with these files, everyone!

D:

I can understand, but really, I wouldn't post it anywhere. Realistically, I could post any of your vids to be flamed, but I haven't posted other ones and I won't.

If you're really that paranoid, a PM/AIM convo works.

Gonna reply to a few thoughts about my file:

[16:17] [best mix]: (chmurchan@aol.pl) but the sync was late, I got more perfects than excellents ;x
[16:17] [best mix]: (cpubasic13) Sync was weird
[16:17] [best mix]: (cpubasic13) If you cut the songs right you dodn't even need to worry about offset
Sync is soundcard-specific. In other words, my soundcard hardware has a late interpretation of sound and I forgot to set the global offset after installing Stepmania.

Offset is computer-specific and you should almost never complain about it, just autosync it. :P

[16:18] [best mix]: (jukuguy03) as for the graphics, i wouldve liked if the title stood out more
[16:18] williamusic: and they are a little blurry for some reason
[16:18] [best mix]: (jukuguy03) that font is waay too light for my liking.
[16:18] williamusic: i guess that's just the effect of them
Definitely not my best work.

[16:18] [best mix]: (rageatm005) i played this and was like the master is back in business
Thanks. :D
This special title makes me look cool.

Oh, I made the steps to that Irfan song.

[17:03] [best mix]: (chmurchan@aol.pl) no, the BPM is totally incorrect

[17:04] [best mix]: (chmurchan@aol.pl) it should be all on 3/4 metrum
[17:04] [best mix]: (chmurchan@aol.pl) in other words, purple arrows

[17:04] [best mix]: (chmurchan@aol.pl) the BPM is just multiplied by 3 and divided by 2

Oh, 3/4 means 3 quarter notes per bar - 3 red notes per bar. Which should not have purple notes on the beats. So the song is 190 quarter notes per minute

This pack reminded me - for people who like ITG type stuff, I made an In The Ruins file too (a while ago). It's challenge only because I can get awfully lazy when I'm not making stuff for actual competitions >_> I think I got like, halfway through a heavy chart but never finished it.

Question: Will future BEST-mixes have community packs?
