We are experiencing technical difficulties...

1. My simfile doesn't end after the last step. It goes on for over a minute after. Help?

2. How do I change Display BPM? This has always been a problem of mine - all my files are stuck at 65 Display BPM...

Please help .-.

It sounds like you're using somebody's old DWI file to edit in Stepmania and don't know the tags to edit out.

For the Display BPM, open your dwi/sm file in notepad and find the #DisplayBPM or similarly worded tag.

For the other problem, I believe that came from having a lot of empty zeros in the actual steps for the file (again viewable in notepad, not sm) to see when it's telling your simulator to end the song.

What was the original file (sm/dwi), what is the file you're editing now, and how are you editing it?

I took a bag simfile originally (no BPM changes - hence easier to set BPM)

I'll open up the file in Notepad and check...

EDIT: Okay, I tried changing the DisplayBPM in notepad but it won't change for some reason... and I have no clue what you're talking about with the 0's thing...

Can someone make a video tutorial or something? >_>

But wouldn't I get disqualified if I did that? (It's my file for the contest...)

And every last one of my files is stuck at DisplayBPM 65 >_>

No, you have to submit my files to me anyway, so it doesn't matter that I see what it is beforehand; but you can't really show it to others for help since it's supposed to be anonymous.

So showing it to me is fine. I got your PM and will take a look when I get a chance.

WHen you made the change in notepad, did you change the .sm, the .dwi, or both? You can either delete the .sm and change it in the .dwi (SM will regenerate the .sm file) or make sure you change it in the .sm.

As for the other problem, I have no clue...

As I mentioned in the PM, you probably need to clear the SM cache/rescan songs and folders in the options after editing the file. Sometimes stepmania won't pick up little changes like that and will revert to what it was before.

Well thanks to you I now have all my files fixed (Yay)

I really don't know about the other problem, though...

EDIT: Hmm, now it's fine...

Now my biggest problem lies in getting a banner and background

1. Save the file in the SM editor.
2. Open up your Stepmania\cache folder
3. Sort by Last modified, and open up the most recently modified file in Notepad. This should be the file that you're working on.
4. Delete it.

After you change that value in Notepad, open up the file in the Editor, open the Escape menu, and select Reload from Disk. You probably have it set to cache everything, so it's reading the cache even after you change it. (You might have to go back to Notepad to re-change it, then reload it in SM via the editor.)

Edit: Oh, nevermind.
