SPRING BREAK!
SPRING BREAK!
Alas, I was so busy working on the contest that I didn't get to bed until 3:30 last night... I dosed off when all of a sudden I heard someone talking to me.
VOICE: HEY YOU
Me: What?
VOICE: YES, YOU. WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?
Me: This simfile contest thing I run.
VOICE: Well, my name is Marley, and I know that you didn't go anywhere for Spring Break so we're bringing Spring Break to you!
Me: *almost pinches myself, but I know I'm dreaming*
Marley: Here, let me help with this contest thing. /pushes me away from the computer
*** Morning ***
Me: What happened last night? Anyway, lets look at the files.
What??? Why are there 5 different groups of files? Oh look, here's a note:
"BLueSS, I randomly divided the songs into 5 groups for you. This will make it easier to find the top songs. Narrow the songs down to the TOP 3 in each bracket, and they will move on. But all of this needs to be done by Wednesday, so we can get this contest finished as quickly as possible! If it doesn't get done by Wednesday, we will have no choice but to delay the next step until this gets finished!"
-Marley
Me: Well, how am I going to get the songs rated without judges this year?
Ponders
AHA! Since the songs are in small groups, I'll have people judge a bracket, or two, or as many as they can (AS LONG AS THEY DON'T JUDGE THEIR OWN)!
But to keep the contest about feedback, all the parts of the judging criteria must be met (with comments for each part), or their scores are going to be worth half value.
If everyone judges a bracket or 2, we should have plenty of feedback... and these are small brackets.
SO IT IS THE TASK OF YOU, ENTRANTS OF BEST-mix 1.5, TO JUDGE EACH OTHER'S FILES.
Besides, you don't have anything else to do now that your files are in... right?

...So how will the scoring be judged? Good question!
Each song will have two averages.
AVERAGE OF FULL REVIEWS + AVERAGE OF PARTIAL REVIEWS = Round 1 Scores
If only one person does a full review, they will have a lot of say. So don't let that happen. Judging 7 songs is a lot less time consuming than a full bracket of 20 or so from past competitions.
If we don't get enough ratings in by Wednesday, everything will be moved back until we do!

Spork! wrote:For a Full review, are we to provide a review of Just Singles from Light to Heavy?
Yes just single l/s/h. BUT, any additional feedback you can give on other charts that they did extra will only help the author out though, so if you have time please comment on as much as you can!

Oh yeah! Winner gets $10. I forgot. That was my prize money from last time that didn't get given out.

Alright, I'll do what I can for that then
One other question. When you say do not judge your own file, won't that kind of give away what you made? I know it won't be anonymous past wednesday if enough reviews are provided, but doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?

ONLY, if you review all but one bracket. Any anyway, all the files that DO NOT move on from Wednesday will be revealed anyway. So it's not really super-secret anonymous this time; but just enough that there will be some guaranteed surprises.
