Tournament Questions

by Danny » Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:48 pm

Okay, since this is the first time i'm entering a simfile tournament i have some questions about it and maybe BluesS can help answer them :)

1 - Will all the entries be ranked? Like, if there re 50 entries will you post the results from 50th place to 1st place?

2 - Will the judges test the files on pad or keyboard?

3 - How long after the deadline does it usually take for the results to be in?

Thanks in advanced ^^

1 - Not exactly 1st place through 50th, since there will probably be around 3 rounds with all the files divided into however many brackets there will be (depending on how massive the simfile count will be). So expect a first, semi-final, and final round basis with places for the first round around 1st - 25th (for each bracket), semi-final around 1st - 20th, and final round at about 1st - 12th. Those numbers aren't official, but I based them off of previous tournaments. I'm not completely sure how this year's tournament is going to turn out.

2 - It's their choice. I'm positive most will play the files on keyboard, but willing to take out a pad and play is completely up to the judge.

3 - The pack comes out for the public usually no more than a couple days after the deadline. However, judging can take up to a couple weeks, so don't expect official results to come in very soon.

Yep, that's more or less the right answers to those questions.

Specifics will come out once I can plan how many entries we will have and stuff like that.

Are DDR songs allowed (like an edit of B4U)? And if I can submit an edit of a DDR song, can I use the original bg and banner or does it have to be new?

Edit: I need to read more carefully >_>
I took a more careful glance at the rules and found what I needed to know.

Considering how the score is divided up, even if you can omit charts, it'd be a horrible idea.

Okay, I have a question. Would it be penalized if you had a song about 110 BPM, and it has 24th beat notes in it?

It's all about whether your chart is fun or not, I assume, so if you do it well, that's good, and if not, that's bad. Just like anything else.

Would a song that is over the 2:30 min length disqualify my sim or would points be taken off? Because I have a really good sim I like but its about roughly 4 min long. =\
