#CDTITLE:; <--- Not important

#SAMPLELENGTH:12.000; <----- Don't worry about this

#OFFSET:-0.120;
#SAMPLESTART:;

I like how these are skipped as far as comments go, and yet he explicitly mentions not to worry about samplelength. What?

FFR murders the purpose of pressing arrows on your screen.

If I just started simfile making and saw that tutorial, I would just not bother to go through the trouble.

Come on, Does anyone even make steps anymore using notepad?

Even then, using NOTEPAD to make a chart would be the most frustrating and inefficient way ever.

Yes, I've heard of the Bemanisims song, and Bemanisims was the site that preceded Bemanistyle where I uploaded my first files. But I've never actually listened to the song, and I don't know what it is either...

Before Stepmania came around.... ALL the files were made in Notepad.
Believe it or not, once you have the right cut of a song, making it in Notepad isn't that difficult. I made a few the old way before SM came around.

It makes you actually think about the chart instead of just plugging arrows into SM's editor. I still play some very early made sims because they had great charts.

Yeah, I wasn't -quite- around early enough to have to do that. However, when I came on the scene a lot of people still did it that way. In fact, perhaps PlatinumHawke stepped Tori no Uta that way for OSC5, though it's unlikely; I can recall he was one of the people that at least used to use Notepad.

I came about when Stepmania 3.0 Final was the thing, although DWI was still in wide use for sure. Oh, glorious Stepmania 3.0 Final and your bad .dwi files... SM 3.0 Final had the problem that it screwed up the freezes in the .dwi file, which caused trouble in tournaments for quite awhile.

Edit: Actually, I'm not completely sure, but my very first file might've been made in Notepad. Sadly I can't really remember. I do recall preview-testing it in DWI. Oh, and BlueSS, I'd be interested in knowing which sims :)
