BestMix PR Review Bracket 1

Using Stepmania - machine offset 0.

9000 Remix

Light: Boring and uncreative. Some steps were misplaced too.
Standard: Almost the same as light but with jumps.
Heavy: A lot of the steps are just running in place and the rest doesn't make sense.

Very uncreative. Many steps were mistimed.

Rating: 1

Presentation: Bad place to put the preview music. Artist's name on banner?

Rating: 2

Overall: 3

All the people in the world

Light: These steps didn't really grab my attention. Should be a 3.
Standard: A lot more energetic than the Light steps.
Heavy: Had a pretty easy-to-follow flow. Though I think there could have been more to be done with this chart.

Though the Light and Heavy charts were kind of lacking, all the charts were easy to follow.

Rating: 4

Presentation: Fantastic. Had a good background video and provided Beginner steps.

Rating: 4

Overall: 8

Boss on Parade

Light: Seemed like someone was afraid to make this too hard. A little more could have been done with this, even if it's just to fit the 4 difficulty.
Standard: I liked these steps. Fitting for Standard.
Heavy: Steps went well with such a chaotic-sounding song.

Light could have a lot more potential. The other charts were pretty fun to play and fit the song well.

Rating: 5

Presentation: Great. Animated banner is fitting for the song.

Rating: 4

Overall: 9

Cafe Cafe

Light: Really good steps fitting for a Light 5.
Standard: This was fun and doesn't go to overboard from being Standard steps.
Heavy: Reminded me of some DDR charts in early mixes. Though the 16th notes at the end weren't really necessary.

Overall a fun file to play.

Rating: 5

Presentation: Fantastic. Even has a Beginner chart.

Rating: 4

Overall: 9

Caramelldansen

Light: Wow, this chart could have been a 4.
Standard: Unfortunately, there was little that stood out in this chart.
Heavy: This chart I enjoyed, and it fit really well.

I really enjoyed this file, but I felt that the Standard steps could use a little more spice.

Rating: 5

Presentation: Very vibrant. Excellent video to boot.

Rating: 4

Overall: 9

CHE.R.RY

Light: Even for a Light chart, this went pretty well with the song.
Standard: Now with this chart, the spins felt out of place and some rhythms were awkward or off.
Heavy: Again, like Standard, I thought there were some places that 16ths were necessary instead of 8ths.

Aside from being a little offsync, there were some problems where I felt that the notes didn't match the intended beat/vocals. Standard looked like it was trying to inflate its difficulty with forced spins.

Rating: 3

Presentation: The file was offsync a little. The banner didn't give me a good first impression.

Rating: 3

Overall: 6

Dance in my Blood

Light: This was actually pretty fun.
Standard: I like where the beats were placed, but I could play this chart with my right side facing the screen the entire time.
Heavy: I kept seeing the same general pattern here and there. Crossovers were a nice touch.

Overall the steps are pretty decent, but it needed some more variation.

Rating: 4

Presentation: Looks great.

Rating: 4

Overall: 8

Danzai no Hana ~Guilty Sky~

Light: This was pretty decent.
Standard: I liked this chart.
Heavy: This one was tricky with the crossing and the turning.

I found this file to be a little awkward because the beginning and ending steps to all difficulties didn't seem to be going with any dominant beat. If it was an attempt at invented rhythms, I couldn't really follow it too easily.

Rating: 4

Presntation: Cool. Claymore.

Rating: 4

Overall: 8

Dark Blue

Light: Pretty good.
Standard: Went a lot with the instruments. Not too bad.
Heavy: Same with Standard except this time this chart seemed like its difficulty was inflated too high for this song.

Although the steps weren't too bad, they were really focused on the instrumentals and barely made anything to go with the vocals. I felt that the Heavy chart wasn't really a great fit for the mood of this song. The Standard steps seemed most appropriate.

Rating: 4

Presentation: Fitting for the song.

Rating: 4

Overall: 8

Elysium

Light: First few steps didn't match up. I saw this chart had (x-x-x--x-x-x) syndrome.
Standard: Sometimes it follows the rhythm, sometimes it doesn't. The flow to this chart was awkward.
Heavy: Although not too bad this time, it didn't feel like there was really much to this chart.

I have to say that these charts were pretty mediocre. They didn't feel that much fun to play.

Rating: 3

Presentation: Looks excellent. File was early, though.

Rating: 3

Overall: 6

Good Bye

Light: Pretty good. Really straightforward.
Standard: I liked this one. Entertaining steps. Again, nothing really complicated.
Heavy: Went really well with the song.
Challenge: Really great steps.

Although the Light and Standard steps were really straightforward, the Heavy and Challenge charts were great and fun to play.

Rating: 6

Presentation: Great.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

Hanafubuki Kou ni Tayutau Ai no Uta

Light: Now this is an excellent Light chart.
Standard: Also an excellent DDR-like Standard chart.
Heavy: This is a pretty well-made chart. The spins are a nice touch to this kind of song.

Overall a really excellent file.

Rating: 6

Presentation: Sup, Sakura. Fitting, though.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

Inferno

Light: Simple and fun, though there could have been something in that gap. Oh well, it's a 2 footer.
Standard: I found this chart to be a really great fit for this song.
Heavy: An excellent, fun, and very balanced chart.

This is a fantastic file.

Rating: 6

Presentation: Great. Really good video to go along with it.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

je t'aime je t'aime

Light: Pretty good chart.
Standard: I found this one pretty fun to play.
Heavy: Not bad. Some steps were awkward, like the spins, but they can easily be doublestepped.

Overall pretty decent.

Rating: 5

Presentation: Not too shabby. Although shortening the song a little more will make it nicer.

Rating: 3

Overall: 8

Mettalic Mind

Light: This was good and balanced.
Standard: Another nice balanced chart.
Heavy: Very good flow and balance.

Overall this file is fairly well-made. The author handled the slowdown very well.

Rating: 6

Presentation: Good.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

Nanorisk

Light: Steps were bland. Even for a Light chart.
Standard: Wow, this one did not have good flow. Spins at 176 bpm on Standard?
Heavy: I found this chart to be a lot better. The end seemed messy though.
Challenge: This one was not fun to play at all. I don't think this is an appropriate use of jumps.

This was not a fun file to play. I felt that the beginning could be used as a slowdown, from the sound of it. Also bad use of doublestepping, spins, and jumps.

Rating: 2

Presentation: Artist's name on the banner, where?

Rating: 3

Overall: 5

Nettaiya

Light: Even for a Light chart, it could have used a little more variation.
Standard: Good chart and fun to play.
Heavy: Amazing steps for this song.

Overall really good, though Light was slightly lacking.

Rating: 5

Presentation: Magnificent.

Rating: 4

Overall: 9

S.U.K.I.

Light: Even for a 2, it wasn't very exciting to play. There could be more steps in there that wouldn't inflate the difficulty.
Standard: Simple and fits the song.
Heavy: These are great steps and go so well with the song.

Great file, but the Light chart was really lacking.

Rating: 5

Presentation: Very good.

Rating: 4

Overall: 9

She Blinded Me With Science

Light: This chart had good balance.
Standard: Very nice.
Heavy: Really good balanced chart.

This was a really great file to play. Good charts on all three difficulties.

Rating: 6

Presentation: Very good.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

The Eleventh Hour

Light: Surprisingly excellent chart for Light. Didn't make it too hard for the Light mode player to read during the speedup.
Standard: This chart was tricky and at the same time did not take the fun away from playing it.
Heavy: Simply amazing.

This is what a boss song should feel and sound like.

Rating: 6

Presentation: Fantastic.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

Time

Light: This is a pretty good chart for Light.
Standard: This was fun to play, though I think this should be at least a 6 instead of a 5.
Heavy: This chart felt really awkward.

Heavy's 16th jumps felt like they shouldn't be there. It's the only chart that really needs work.

Rating: 5

Presentation: Banner reminds me of classic DDR banners. The file is really early though. Not too bad.

Rating: 3

Overall: 8

Vodka

Light: Fantastically fun. A little difficult for a 3 though.
Standard: Amazing steps. Could probably be a 7.
Heavy: Outstanding.

Steps were outstanding. They were fun, fit the song amazingly well, plus they were well-balanced and well-constructed.

Rating: 6

Presentation: Marvelous.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

Wish

Light: Well-placed steps and pretty straightforward. It's a 1.
Standard: Pretty gewd.
Heavy: Very solid steps for a 5-footer.

Though the file is pretty easy, the steps going with this song don't take away the fun from playing it.

Rating: 6

Presentation: I dig the video.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10

Yamato Nadeshiko (Maxxx400 Infinity Style)

Light: This chart actually wasn't too bad.
Standard: These steps were fun to play.
Heavy: Wasn't too bad after the resync, but some parts were still messy.
Challenge: Same as heavy but more triples and jumps.

After giving this file another chance, it didn't turn out as bad as I first thought. The Heavy and Challenge charts need more than just step-step-step-step-triple-step-step-step-step-triple and a lot of jumps.

Rating: 4

Presentation: Looks nice. Full points after the file resync.

Rating: 4

Overall: 8

't Smidje

Light: Very well-made.
Standard: Again, a well-made chart.
Heavy: Fit the song perfectly.

A very well-rounded file. All difficulties had balanced charts and Standard/Heavy made very good use of triplets.

Rating: 6

Presentation: The background and banner was very appropriate for this song.

Rating: 4

Overall: 10
