Entry: Elysium (S&B Mix) / Scott Brown/Ultrabeat Presentation - 19 / 20 The samplestart and graphics scream ENERGY. The song has lots of it, and while you kept the presentation simple, it definitely worked out well. The graphics had a nice style to them, and really showed that this song has a lot of energy-- from their blue hues to the accents you used-- they worked. Excellent. The cut needs to be tweaked though... that ending was too abrupt-- the synths in the end just dropped out, and was replaced by a "powering-off" sound that didn't blend too well. Steps (no Oni) Light Chart - 1 / 5 Under-represented the song. The song has a lot of energy, and despite this being a Light chart-- it deserves better steps than what was in this chart. The steps were highly repetitive, and were mostly detached 4th-note patterns composed of 3 notes in at least 75% of the chart-- ouch. You said in your readme that it's difficult to be creative in a Light chart, but that's not exactly true. You can be creative-- you simply need to look for variations in your patterns that break the monotony that this chart was. A great way would be to look for jump patterns and better 4th-note run patterns that will keep this accessible to low-level players, while keeping true to the energy of the song. You do get points for representing the calmer parts of the song well, though. Standard Chart - 4.5 / 10 At first, it seemed like the chart was heading in the right direction-- there was a nice set of patterns that built up quite well, and fit the mood of the song nicely (especially the 4th-note and 8th-note patterns at bars 8-15). However, come bar 16... things changed. From there, we get a mixed bag. At times, the energy of the song is there-- this is at the part with vocals, where we see a nice set of patterns in a fairly dense, but nicely working environment. However, there are times where the steps lose themselves-- an example of which would be bars 48-56, where the song's beats drop out, sticking to a faint synth portion-- which was accompanied by a step-dense portion not unlike some of the patterns in the more intense part of the song, which is a bit too much for that part. That said, quite a mixed bag over-all. Heavy Chart - 2.5 / 15 Oh my... the steps dropped out completely in this chart, as past the first few bars, we get a bunch of haphazardly chosen patterns with variations that just appear from out of nowhere and force the player into turns and doublestepps that at times looked awkward, or simply didn't fit the song (at times, the steps just follow themselves-- I couldn't feel the song at times (bars 17-20+ come to mind), we get some shorter patterns that suddenly turn to longer ones, without any good build-ups or breakdowns in the song warranting the change). The problems in this chart are a combination of problems in the Light and Standard chart, so I guess you should retweak the steps-- to some extent, they meet the energy of the song, but the rough flow, and seemingly haphazard step placement can be a problem. Try to look for a goal for your steps, and try to achieve that goal-- don't just send the player moving here and there without some kind of purpose in the steps.
