Entry: Dance in my Blood / Men, Women and Children Presentation - 6 / 20 Okay, in general, the presentation needs a lot of work. The way this simfile was presented was very uninviting, and in general, was quite a turn-off. The graphics are decent, and they certainly managed to do the song proud (although that miniscule text in the background really needs to be bloated up), but they were countered by the audio elements of the simfile, and the included Doubles Heavy chart. The cut needs some work-- first of all, it felt very draggy, and I don't think the song was that uncuttable-- you could probably encapsulate its energy in less than 1:50, and seriously, this seems to be a song that is not advisable in big dosages (add that awful fade-out in the end, and you have a cut that needs a lot of work). The samplestart was also uninviting, it was long and draggy (20+ seconds?), and seemed to be awkwardly located (strangely enough, it began in an instrumental, and the vocals just dropped in-- in addition, the fact that it switched to a completely different part in the end is quite problematic-- please edit!) You also included a Doubles Heavy chart, but that was a pretty bad call-- playing it, it seemed like an ITG Doubles chart, given some of the patterns you used (oh dear-- Right on Right pad, then Left on Left pad!?!?), and remember that this is a DDR competition (even then, it would still be a bad call-- it was poorly executed-- it felt like a Singles chart that moved at times-- it just doesn't have that "Doubles feel"). Steps (no Oni) Light Chart - 0.5 / 5 This song is a lot more energetic than what this chart made it out to be-- this chart was a never-ending stream of 4th-notes organized in a very boring manner-- for most of the chart, it was just detached streams of 4th-notes that didn't really seem to go anywhere-- they just seemed to turn around at random, without giving me any feel for the song (the song had plenty of energy, and would certainly warrant some creative patterns, some variations in the 4th-note patterns would work well-- even some well-placed jumps would certainly make this chart go well with the song). The flow of the steps was fairly smooth, but I don't think that means much when considering how the chart turned out. Standard Chart - 3.5 / 10 For the first thirty bars, you were getting somewhere. I noticed a nice style in the patterns where we saw a clear build-up in the patterns, which fit how the song flowed very well... and then, it went downhill from there. The first part where this is evident is at around bars 34-40, where you use a very repetitive pattern style (a rather step-dense one, at that) in a more relaxed part of the song, which would break down before the second half of the song. From there, things went out of hand-- the patterns ended up being highly repetitive (they followed the sounds too well), and were extremely leftist in orientation. Basically, you should try to see where you went right in the first 30 bars, and apply whatever you did there in the later parts of the song. It's really sad how it went downhill-- it had potential. Heavy Chart - 1 / 15 Extremely boring-- you followed the percussion too religiously, without considering every other aspect of the song. Because you followed the percussion to the letter, you ended up with a very repetitive chart that was more of an endless 8th-note stream-- granted, the song is energetic, but this is a bit too much, since one wouldn't feel the song anymore. The solution here is simple-- look at the other elements of the song, and try to transition to them-- the other charts did that decently, so it is strange why this chart would be completely against what you already built. Another issue in this chart is how the patterns don't really seem to be going anywhere at times-- this is mostly because of the other problem, but this can be remedied quite easily-- simply try to look for a place to go in your chart, and stick to it. All that said, highly disappointing.
